The picturesque Worcestershire village of Inkberrow played host to seven bands on Saturday 11th July,
as Arrow Valley Brass celebrated its thirtieth anniversary. Taking part were Alcester Victoria Silver Band,
Avonbank Brass Band, Blockley Brass Band, Bretforton Brass Band, Shipston Brass Band and the hosts themselves,
with the day rounded off with a splendid concert by The Staffordshire Band, conducted by Huw Thomas.
The event was made possible by a Lottery Grant.
Many visitors and friends attended including Robert Morgan, Chairman of the British Federation of Brass Bands, Barbara Dunscombe,
Chairman of the West Midlands Brass Band Association and the Chairman of the Distict Council, who was interested in the
possibility of this becoming an annual event.
Arrow Valley MD, David Stanley was delighted with the day and said:- “After conducting the band for its whole life,
this was a great day for me. It seems to have been enjoyed by everyone. It makes the band delighted to have become
part of such a welcoming community after our move here almost two years ago.”

Arrow Valley Brass plans to celebrate more than 30years of banding with a Band Day in the Worcestershire
village of Inkberrow, where the band is now located. In addition to ourselves, Alcester Victoria,
Avonbank, Blockley, Bretforton, Shipston and Stourport bands have accepted invitations to take part,
each band playing once in the Village Church and once in a marquee on The Green. The day will end with
a concert by The Staffordshire Band, also old friends.
This promises to be a memorable day for Dave Stanley who formed Arrow Valley and has been Musical Director
for the whole of its existence. He has conducted several of the bands taking part and in addition to
Arrow Valley is currently also conducting at Blockley, where he learned to play as a boy.
The band hopes that former players and friends, together with all those who enjoy bands will join them
in this lovely setting, blessed with two fine hostelries adjacent to the Green
For further details please email the band (from the contact page) and we'll get back to you as soon as we can.
