Arrow Valley Brass is delighted to announce the appointment of it’s new Musical Director Ashley Buxton.

Ashley Buxton is the Director of Music at a grammar school in the West Midlands. He has an impressive background that includes 12 years as a trumpeter in the Regimental Band of Her Majesty's Coldstream Guards.

Ashley joined the Army at 18 as a professional Trumpeter and was awarded the Besson Brass Player of the Year 2000 at the Royal Military School of Music and the Royal Military School of Music Certificate for Exceptional Proficiency on the Trumpet/Cornet.

His career enabled him to travel and perform on live TV, at a royal wedding, on 36 commercially recorded CDs, at Live 8 and in premier concert halls around the world.

Ashley joined the band over the summer and was thrown in at the deep end taking his first band stand engagement after only half of one rehearsal.  Ashley though is no stranger to challenging situations and coolly worked through the unknown program with a band he hardly knew and an enjoyable afternoon was had by the good people Droitwich.

Ashley took the band to the Gloucester Brass Band Association march and own choice test piece competition on Sunday 17th November 2019 where the band won the trophy for highest placed 3rd section band.

Ashley is pictured here with the cup and the outgoing musical director Dave Stanley who is still very much involved with the band behind the scenes.
